Natural Art Surf Shop, Buxton - Today
Natural Art Surf Shop and In The Eye Surfboards are located in Buxton on Cape Hatteras, one mile from the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. Since 1977 we have been supplying the local and travelling surfer with quality custom surfboards, bodyboards, skimboards and a full line of accessories.
There were not a lot of options for rent in 1977 and we transformed an old “Whatsa Burger” with dollar bill gas pumps out front into our first surf shop. We opened with a Dozen surfboards, one case of wax , a dozen leashes and 2 dozen t-shirts which we were silk screening ourselves. Carol, an accomplished seamstress made handmade shorts and shirts for the customers then and she still does the handmade shirts today.

Scott who had previously been the glasser and part owner of Natural Art Surfboards in Fla. took care of making sure customers got the board they needed and the repairs and still does today with a help from Curtis. We recently celebrated out 30th anniversary and we all are “still stoked after all these years”. We all try to get in the water as much as we can, and we are a surf shop still run by surfers.
